Aliens are among us. It is inconceivable to me that in this vast world there are not other life forms - whether they are little green men, solemn grey creatures with big eyes, or simply people like ourselves, but with superhuman strength.

It is a proven fact that during the Second World War, on 9 September 1942, the Home Guard were called to a strange fire on the outskirts of the Hulme district of Manchester. At first it was thought that this was an enemy attack - but the truth is far stranger.
